Term for a bird [animal] that eats seeds, buds, or other parts of plants; for example, Purple Finch, Evening Grosbeak, and others in the finch family.
The Hoatzin eats leaves, and has a remarkable crop in order to digest them. Many seed-eating birds will feed insects during nesting time and to their young, see insectivorous.
