The Long-tailed Chinchilla (Chinchilla lanigera) is one of the two living species of Chinchillas.
It is identified by its smaller physique and longer tail in comparison to the the other species of Chinchilla, the Short-tailed Chinchilla. The Long-tailed Chinchilla is also the Chinchilla species that is more commonly kept as domesticated pets.
