The Rook is a species of corvid in the Corvus genus. It is found throughout Eurasian. It forms a superspecies with the Cape Crow.[2] There are two subspecies which may warrant a split in the future.[3]

Corvus is from Latin meaning raven, and frugilegus is Latin frugilegus crop-picking < frux, frugis fruit; legere to pick (cf. Med. L. frugella or frigella rook).[4]

Description[]

It is about 40-50 cm in leght. It has a pointy, straight with a bald skin zone at the base. Its plumage is all black. The juvenile hasn't got the bald area on the base of the beak.
